Online Clinic Privacy Training
The Physician Office System Program (POSP) offers a suite of
online resources to help you keep your privacy knowledge up to
date. The requirements that form the essential privacy information
for the physician office are from:
- The Health Information Act (HIA) and
regulations
- The College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta
- The Canadian Medical Association Code of Ethics
POSP General Privacy Training helps clinic staff
identify the principles of the HIA and apply the act in practical
scenarios in a clinic setting with electronic medical records. This
program takes approximately 30 to 40 minutes to complete.
Completion is required for a POSP privacy resource to be assigned
to the clinic to assist with a privacy impact assessment.
POSP Privacy Officer Training helps individuals
appointed as clinic privacy officers to understand the HIA and
apply it in practical ways to everyday clinic activities. This
includes managing privacy understanding, encouraging staff
compliance and embedding privacy awareness in the clinic culture.
This program takes approximately 60 minutes to complete.
Note: The General Privacy Training must be
completed by the clinic privacy officer who is responsible for
compliance, before POSP will provide privacy support to your
clinic.
POSP Physician Training* helps physicians keep
their privacy and security knowledge up to date, in accordance with
the HIA. This includes policies and procedures that must be in
place to safeguard health information in a clinic setting. This
program takes approximately 60 minutes to complete.
* This program meets the accreditation criteria of The
College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been accredited by
the National Office for up to 1 Mainpro-M1 credit.
