VCUR 2006 Invoice-Based Reimbursement

The Physician Office System Program (POSP) is moving into a new program phase. As part of this change, physicians using VCUR 2006 physician office system solutions and who were receiving grant funding of $740/month are required to move to an invoice-based reimbursement system effective January 1, 2010.

In October Alberta Health and Wellness (AHW), Alberta Health Services (AHS) and the Alberta Medical Association (AMA) announced that the Physician Office System Program (POSP) electronic medical record (EMR) solutions are in the market. Physicians have asked POSP to address some of the rumours they are hearing as a result of this announcement.

POSP Approval of Contracts Required to Ensure Funding

Physicians are advised to engage the Physician Office System Program prior to signing a contract with a qualified service provider. POSP must review and approve all contracts prior to physician signing to ensure contracts meet POSP requirements to ensure eligibility for funding.
