Qualified service providers approved to implement new solutions
March 19, 2010
Three qualified service providers (QSPs),
MD Physician Services (formerly Practice Solutions), Med Access and
Wolf Medical Systems, have been granted approval from Alberta
Health and Wellness (AHW) to begin deploying the new VCUR 2008
electronic medical record (EMR) solutions. For physicians, this
means that each of the QSP's EMR solutions have been fully tested
and meets conformance standards, which is the final step of the AHW
approval process. Pharmaceutical Information Network (PIN) pilots
for each QSP are to begin shortly.
POSP reminds physicians that prior to
signing contracts with QSPs, POSP must review and approve all
contracts to ensure eligibility. After a contract is signed
(Milestone 1), the vendor will work with the physician and POSP to
develop an Approved Project Plan (Milestone 2) that outlines the
activities and timeframes for implementation.
Physicians are invoiced 32% at Milestone
1 and 17% at Milestone 2 for a total of 49% of one-time eligible
costs by the QSPs. POSP reimburses 70% of one-time eligible costs
for Milestone 1 and Milestone 2 when the Approved Project Plan is
accepted.
Note: as of August 1, 2010 changes
to milestone percentages occurred. See the announcement.
