Data Management: What's Right for Your Practice?
May 30, 2011
Data migration is a key component of data management when moving
from a VCUR 2006 or other electronic medical record (EMR) system to
a VCUR 2008 solution. Migrating data includes the extraction of
data from the current EMR, the conversion and testing of data and
finally, the loading of data into the new EMR solution. As of April
30, 2011, 139 physicians representing 49 clinics have migrated data
onto a VCUR 2008 EMR solution. Physicians have three approaches to
consider:
- Migrate data at go-live of new EMR
- Migrate data after go-live of new EMR
- Retain a PDF record of data for read-only purposes and start
fresh with new records in new EMR
