Data Migration

When transitioning from any medical records system to a new system, management of patient data is critical. POSP works with the original EMR vendor and the new EMR provider to help physicians choose the best data migration options for their practice.

In October, 10 physicians completed data migrations. Since migrations began occurring (September 2010 to October 2011), 362 data migrations have been completed. There are 138 data migrations in progress across the province.

EMR Benefits

The Benefits Survey is sent to physicians approximately one year after Milestone 3 (Go-Live) to evaluate the impact of VCUR 2008 EMR implementation on the physician's practice. The October survey had 164 physician participants. Each performance measure target was significantly surpassed.

Of overall respondents, 95% agree that an EMR allows physicians to improve patient care and 92% agree that the EMR improves the effectiveness of patient care.
