Data Migration
When transitioning from any medical records system to a new
system, management of patient data is critical. POSP works with the
original EMR vendor and the new EMR provider to help physicians
choose the best data migration options for their practice. In July,
46 physicians completed data migrations. Since migrations began
occurring (September 2010 to July 2011), 299 data migrations have
been completed. There are 135 data migrations in progress across
the province.
EMR Benefits
The Benefits Survey is sent to physicians approximately one year
after Milestone 3 (Go-Live) to evaluate the impact of VCUR 2008 EMR
implementation on the physician's practice. The July survey had 84
physician participants. Each performance measure target was
significantly surpassed. Of overall respondents, 94% agree that EMR
allows physician to improve patient care. Year to date, 90% of
physicians agreed that patients receive test results faster and are
more satisfied with the scheduling process thanks to the EMR.
Additionally, 96% of respondents indicated that their care team has
more complete patient information available due to the EMR.

Post Implementation Physician Satisfaction (PIPS) Survey
POSP surveys physicians three months after their EMR systems
have been deployed in order to hear about their implementation
experiences. The survey results help POSP to refine services and
improve service delivery.
For clinics that went live in March and were surveyed in July,
18 clinics participated in PIPS surveys, representing a total of 89
physicians. Five clinics did not participate.
Of those surveyed for this period, 94% are satisfied with their
EMR solution and 88% are satisfied with POSP services. Physicians
are 66% satisfied with the overall implementation of their EMR
solution and indicate that they need more assistance with early
phases of the EMR implementation. POSP is addressing these needs
through the addition and refinement of services to be introduced in
October.
