Data Migration

When transitioning from any medical records system to a new system, management of patient data is critical. POSP works with the original EMR vendor and the new EMR provider to help physicians choose the best data migration options for their practice. In August, 19 physicians completed data migrations. Since migrations began occurring (September 2010 to August 2011), 318 data migrations have been completed. There are 148 data migrations in progress across the province.

EMR Benefits

The Benefits Survey is sent to physicians approximately one year after Milestone 3 (Go-Live) to evaluate the impact of VCUR 2008 EMR implementation on the physician's practice. The July survey had 73 physician participants. Each performance measure target was significantly surpassed.

Of overall respondents, 92% agree that an EMR allows physicians to improve patient care. Year to date, 91% of physicians agreed the EMR improves the efficiency of the clinic and 95% agree the EMR improves effectiveness of patient care.
